Sexton who owns a farm in the town of Smyrna, south of the village, on the flats, has a great dairy of 18 cows thereon. The following is the record for one year, from April 1, 1910 'to April 1 1911: April $231 38 May 225 57 June 160 08 July 178 13 August 189 47 September 205 40 October 240 05 November 259 29 December 251 70 January 253 84 February 225 07 March 280 05 AS A MILK PRODUCING FEED. Prize of $50 For Best Article on Dried Beet Pulp as Milk Producer. Total, $2,680.03 Three families used milk from the herd which is not accounted for or several calves which were sold at figures as high as $50 each. All the cows are thoroughbred Holsteins with the exception of six, one of the latter, 14 years of age, giving as high as 67 pounds of milk per day right in mid-winter and from 50 to 55 pounds in June. All of the cows are big milkers averaging from 60 to 65 pounds each per day. The amount received each month was for the milk delivered at the milk station in Smyrna village. Mr. Sexton is proud of his dairy and well he may be. Mr. Sexton lives here in Sherburne but has a good man on his farm, Henry Crandall, who is a capita hand and one who knows how to care for stock. Walter says his stock looks much better under Mr. Crandall's care than they did under his own. Walter and wife long for farm life again but we all hope to keep them in Sherburne.
